p.1 #1 · Sparky and Shadow Bridge

Two B&W images that I'd love to get some feedback on. Processing, framing, exposure, etc. I'm just a beginner so any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Love the first shot, there is enough detail on the right.

In the second shot I think a dark vignette would have worked better to help take your eye down the tunnel.

Both excellently processed.

Cheers Ray

Ray,
Thank you for your feedback. I did try a dark vignette first, but didn't like the way it made the whole picture seem dark and muddy. To my eyes the lighter vignette opened up the shadows just enough to make the photo feel inviting, rather than frightening. Perhaps a more practiced hand would have fared better. Alas, my skills fell short.

I agree with Ray. I would not think of opening up shadows, but using them in this case to focus our eyes more.
p.s. we're all still learning!
regards, tom

The first captures a great atmosphere. I like it even more with the bit of wall cropped from the left and the bricks off the right, really draws the eye to the bright center amongst the dark.

The light vignette on the second isn't my taste, but otherwise the geometry really works for me.

I am not all that good with criticizing others work, but I can tell you that the composition is spot on perfect with the second image.
I am in agreement with the others regarding the vignette.
