p.1 #1 · Create JPG from RAW in-camera for Selects?

Couldn't figure out how to do this, so I thought I'd ask.

I would like to create a JPG from a RAW file, in-camera on the D800, but I don't want to shoot RAW+JPG (speed and space issues). Scroll through the photos, select one, and make a JPG from it. Whether it goes to the CF or SD card when it's made, I don't really care... just wondering if this is possible?

Why would I do this... a client wants a few photos from a shoot right out of the camera. I don't want to give them everything. The won't have the capabilities to handle RAW.

I don't think there is a way to do that with any Nikon camera. It will be interesting to see if somebody has a way. Many have mentioned that Capture NX can pull a jpeg from a raw file. It seems shooting RAW + JPEG would be the easiest way.

simply set up your camera to save raw on your main card (CF) and jpg at your choice of size on the second card (SD).

The camera takes a lot longer to clear the buffer when writing RAW+JPG and I'd rather not hand over ALL of the images to a client on an SD card... maybe 50 photos at most. I'd love to just scroll through playback and say "Make JPG".

This is easy. At least on my D700.

You view the photo, go into the edit menu, don't change anything, and click OK. It saves a JPG.

Ah, there we go, the Edit menu. For future reference to anyone else looking for this, the D800 has a built-in NEF Processor.

Preview the photo.
Press OK
Scroll to NEF (RAW) processing.
You can set the desired size outputs, exposure adjustments, etc.

Haven't figured out how to send it to a different card, but this will work fine. Thanks DTOB.
