p.1 #1 · Memory Card Benchmarks

Rob Galbraith used to maintain a comprehensive and updated memory card write/read benchmark database but since his retirement it hasnt been updated for the newer hardware.

http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

So would anyone know of a currently updated memory card performance database?

I'm eyeing the 64GB Transcend 400x that is selling for $104 on Amazon.

5Dm3, 1Dm4, 1D X & 1D C with UDMA 7 cards from all makers.

Thanks Ian. I will look for Lars' thread.

It's for the 1D4. But I will do a new one for the 1DX later. But I can already say that the 1DX is a lot faster with every card in the test.

I use 32GB SanDisk Extreme Pro 90 Mb/s and Lexar Pro 1000x cards in my 1DX. They are both very fast, the Lexar is obviously faster but the difference is noticeable when taking photos as well as when downloading them from the card. I use a Lexar USB 3.0 card reader which maxes the card's download speed. Nice and quick!

+1

That was one of the first things I noticed about the 1DX when I upgraded from a 1D4. Still ended up getting Lexar 1000x cards though as I wanted to max out buffer clear.

I wish the ethernet tethering to download photos worked a little more smoothly. I could then skip the step of taking the card out and putting it in a card reader I'd have to bring, but the setup in-camera and on-computer takes way too many steps to make it worth it. I've done it, and getting photos off the camera that way is nice and fast once you're set up, but it takes a few minutes of configuring everything first.
