I recently got an SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4 to play with the Metabones SB. It's very sharping even wide open, though it falls off as it goes to the corners, as expected. I really like the rendering and bokeh also. The only bad thing is that there's quite a bit of vignetting when wide open.
I've been using a Nikon Series E 50mm 1.8 with the SB for a few short months, and that only has very subtle vigetting wide open. Usually I don't need to correct it since it's pretty natural and smooth. In comparison, the SMC Tak has much much more, and it goes deep into the frame, and has pretty dark corners. Granted, it is 1.8 vs 1.4. The OOF rendering is much smoother on the Takumar, whereas the Series E 50mm can get pretty busy.
What's everyone's favorite 50mm with the SB? And what are your thoughts on its OOF rendering and vignetting performance?
