Thanks for sharing those ISO1600. The corners look mushy and soft but I really like that look. But how much of that is just being wide open? Those pics have all kinds of character.
This sounds dumb but I'd love to see a brick wall type shot at 5.6.
These are quick shots chasing my 1 year old around out in the sun, wide open with a 50/1.4 AIS, not known to be an excellent 50 haha.
I am more than happy with the results, it gives me the look I was after.
I recently got an SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4 to play with the Metabones SB. It's very sharping even wide open, though it falls off as it goes to the corners, as expected. I really like the rendering and bokeh also. The only bad thing is that there's quite a bit of vignetting when wide open.
I've been using a Nikon Series E 50mm 1.8 with the SB for a few short months, and that only has very subtle vigetting wide open. Usually I don't need to correct it since it's pretty natural and smooth. In comparison, the SMC Tak has much much more, and it goes deep into the frame, and has pretty dark corners. Granted, it is 1.8 vs 1.4. The OOF rendering is much smoother on the Takumar, whereas the Series E 50mm can get pretty busy.
What's everyone's favorite 50mm with the SB? And what are your thoughts on its OOF rendering and vignetting performance?
"adjust for infinity"? For Metabones Speed Booster only:
Just unscrew a tiny side screw, which holds the optical block not to rotate.
Then rotate the optical block from the rear side
A) rotate clockwise when your lens cannot reach infinity
B) rotate unti-clockwise when the lens pasts infinity.
There is not much space there, so rotate slowly and carefully.
On the Lens Turbo, there is no side set screw like the Metabones has.
Instead, it looks like the optical unit has some kind of sealant holding it in place, but should be able to adjust.
Mine goes to infinity and beyond, but it's very close. I may mess with it if i get bored.

Thanks.
So far the only lenses that don't focus to infinity is the 50mm f1.8 and the 35-105mm, both are non breach mount versions. The 24mm f2.8, the 50mm f1.4 and the 85mm f1.8 all are ok.
A seller on Ebay mentioned to me that the Lens Turbo it is adjustable for infinity using a lens wrench via the retaining ring. But there seem to be many different Lens Turbos, not sure if they are all the same or can actually be adjusted like the speed booster.
Also MXcamera commented on a Lens Turbo video on youtube about the purple reflection problem.
"This is because of internal reflection of coat. The rear lens of lens turbo is too close to the senor. It will occur when using small aperture (around f/8), will fix it soon! Thank you so much."
Also mentions via email that a fix will take 3 months.
I think it is not fair to discuss with night image for resolution, because I took this image without fixing on sold tripod, 4 seconds exposure, ISO1600 and strong noise reduction made resolution degradation on all area.
I would like to discuss with day image as shown below.
On left upper, within around 50% image hight is acceptable, 70% image hight is marginal, over 90% can not be acceptable. The over 90% has not only lower resolution, but also large chromatic aberration.
Thanks a lot. Looks like it's hopeless for any photos with the borders in focus... Maybe I should save the money for a Zeiss 12mm Touit or the Sony UWA zoom.
Do you guys think it is a good idea to split out and form a thread dedicated to Lens Turbo? (Instead of mixing it inside the Speed Booster thread.) If a moderator could help with the split, all the better. Thanks!
