| p.1 #1 · Baby praying mantises | |
Hi Everybody,
Last spring we were having a family get-together out on the deck, and my daughter noticed some tiny praying mantises crawling under a stone-topped coffee table we have out there. We looked under the table and saw that there were dozens of them crawling around, with more still coming out of the egg case.
I ran inside and quickly grabbed my camera and flash, then got down on my belly to snap some shots under the table.
It was kind of weird the way the babies were marching in rows. You wouldn't expect them to be organized - or would you?
The picture of the 7 babies marching was flipped vertically. They were actually marching upside down. The other picture, showing the egg case, was rotated clockwise approximately 45 degrees. The screw that's visible in that picture is not very big, so that gives you some idea of how tiny these guys were.
