p.1 #1 · EW-78C - Has it changed?

I somehow misplaced my hood for the 35 1.4L, so for christmas I asked for a replacement.

Received the new hood from B+H in the canon box, but when I put it on i noticed that it looks a bit different than I remember the one that came with the lens.
This one seems much more matte in finish than the one I remember, and is significantly more matte than the 24-70, 70-200, and 16-35 hoods I have from around the same time.

Anyone know if they updated the hood at some point? Is this new matte finish common among the newer lenses?

I can't say anything about the 35L hood in particular (mine's from 2008), but my 24-70/2.8L II and 70-200/2.8L IS II both have matte finish on their hoods.
