p.1 #1 · Sharp 8K TV

Shown at CES.

This monitor can show a 33GP image without resizing but is not in production and has no available video content other than made for demo purposes. But maybe the more important news is how many 4 K monitors were shown at the show.

4k TV's have been gaining ground over the past few years, soon they'll be affordable and the next big TV upgrade will be here

Maybe my CRT will last until then.

I am only interested in affordable monitors to replace my 6 year old NEC 26090. Maybe in another 4-5 years. A 30 inch 4K would be really nice.

Exactly. They can keep their 8K .and their 4K TV's - they're only any use if you're a gangster/ footballer/NBA star living in a mansion.

I'm with you Ben; first give me a monitor that can display my 25MB files at their native resolution.

Well you need an 8K monitor for that

My 1920x1200 monitor displays as nice as a 16x24 print, I can only imagine what a 4k monitor will look like, I bet it would induce me to upgrade printers.

I don't like the low pixel density on the current monitors. I want something big-ish (say 27" or maybe just 24") with at least 130 ppi and of course excellent colour and tonal uniformity (NEC, EIZO, etc). And not 16:9 ratio.

I'm with you, but it doesn't exist yet. Retina has aced the pixel density, but not the size (15" diag) or ratio (1.6:1). I compromised this evening and ordered the Eizo SX2762W: 27", 16:9, 109ppi. Should be fun using it side-by-side with my MacBook.
