I tried using imovie 11 but it will not recognize it but iphoto 11 will. I need to get a video off my camera to put on youtube.

just use a card reader and copy the video files to your Mac
The Canon EOS disc has basic video capabilities if you load all the software
Final Cut Pro X can edit with a plugin
