p.1 #1 · Do I really need a macro lens for close up flower photography?

Guys just wondering if I really need to buy macro lens or if I can get some excellent shots with my 35 mm f1.8 or 18-105mm and maybe some extension tubes. Not really interested in shooting flower stamens or bugs eyes, just want to get really crisp flower shots.

In my opinion, you should be able to do pretty well with extension tubes. I've used them with 50mm and 70-200mm f2.8 with success.

I agree that a macro lens isn't really necessary, especially if your intentions of use are more limited. With your 18-105mm with tubes you should be able to do wide angle macro which is a great style of itself. You could also buy a cheap adapter ring and reverse mount these lenses.

Of course, flowrs come in many sizes but the majority are neither very large or very small.

Consider getting a good quality supplementary lens for your zoom.

Put a canon 500D on the front . get the 77mm one and use step down rings to fit any lens .
