Great pics Mojo. I just picked mine up this after noon. All I can say is as the thread's title says WOW, WOW... Sorry for not taking the time to convert and post one.

I want to thank all the people that posted the outstanding photos. I have looked at so many with various lens and read so many reviews, specs... I thought this was a no brainer and after looking at my first photos, it was... they are even better in Lightroom. I have seen some of the 100% crop but it is really hard to believe.

Reminds me of the look with old slides, just 3D. I never want to settle for anything less now.

I traded almost all my stuff in, only kept the old nikon 180 2.8.
I sure hope their future 24 1.4 is this good.

Gah. I just got this lens, and I seem to have the focus point issue. On my D600, it focuses perfectly on the third focus point to the right, and the fourth and fifth to the left, but it is off in the center and all other points in that row. On my D7100, it focuses perfectly on the middle point and the first point to the right, but it is off on all of the other points in the center row.

It has the latest firmware.

The micro-focus adjustment seems to throw off one or the other. It's too bad Nikon doesn't do per-focus-point micro-focus adjust (although I suppose it hasn't been an issue before this).

I tested a few of my other lenses, and they all seem to work fine (adjusted) on all focus points.

So I guess I'll have to send it back and try again. Too bad.

I liked my Sigma 35 so much I bought 2!
I sold my Nikon 35G and thinking of selling my Zeiss 35 now.
Bottom photo was taken with the Zeiss BTW...
There is tape around the lens to protect it from scratches

Here is one capture with the Sigma.
etc.

My wife and I were out in San Francisco last week and I wanted to get a bit different shot of the GGB (as if there is such a thing!). I was really pleased with the D800E and Sigma 35. I didn't even know I had captured the windsurfer that well until I did a 100% crop in Lightroom. I can't imagine that a Nikon or Canon 35L is any sharper than this new Sigma 35. I also love the Sigma 85 but I think this one is even sharper.

You just gotta love this technology we are blessed with. It is just amazing.

This guy shot a polar bear in the water with a fisheye: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/whats-on/temporary-exhibitions/wpy/prevPhoto.do?photo=2717&category=3&year=2011

Imagine pulling that off and STILL not winning wildlife photog of the year.

That IS amazing :

Once we were sure it was relaxed with our presence, I slipped quietly into the water with just a mask and fins, attached to the boat by a rope.' The polar bear now started to swim towards the boat. It didn't appear to notice Joe, and for 20 minutes he was able to take photographs from the water. But then the bear caught sight of its own reflection in the dome port and swam up to Joe. 'It's amazing when a huge, powerful animal comes beside you.' It came so close that its nose touched the housing, startling it. The second after Joe took this shot, the bear reached out and touched the dome with its paw.

Thanky, Timster! No, but it's da 'monkey 1-click conversion via Picasa.
I'll lay a sepia on a horsehead capture from time to time, too. I call it frugal PP.
