Assuming you are referring to the autofocus point and viewfinder turning red when focusing, what is your setting for menu item a4 (AF point illumination)? One of the options here is "AUTO". With that setting, the camera decides when to flash the red illumination in the viwfinder when focusing. You will get the red illumination when the scene is relatively darker and you will not get the red illumination when the scene is relatively brighter. Your other choices are ON and OFF which should be self explanatory. Check page 209 of the owners manual FMI.
Notwithstanding the advice given previously in this thread, I would check obvious simple things before shipping my camera off for service.
