I dug it out - serial # is 3626066, I would have bet the bank account I took that camera/lens to Florida on vacation in 1976 or 1977.
Interpolating the dates, the lens should have been produced around 1977
We bought a 1978 Monte Carlo the summer of 1978, I used that camera one or 2 years before that, Hmmmmmmm

Is there a chance the records are not that accurate? Or could the 362 range have been produced, transported and sold in 1976?
Anyway, back to the original question, is this lens worth trying on the D7000 considering I already have a 2 year old AF 50mm f1.8?
Is there a IQ difference between different 50mm lens'?
John, of course the lens is worth trying as proven by the image you just shared. I believe the info on this site is fairly accurate, but I guess there's always room for error. Just be sure you don't try any non AI lenses on the D7000, you could damage the camera.
When It comes to the 50's being different, there's a huge difference in some of them. Here's another useful site that compares lenses. http://www.naturfotograf.com/lens_surv.html
