p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon with F .95 lens

I'm usually on the Nikon part of this site, for the usual reasons, However....I was recently asked to look at a collection from a man who had passed, to possibly give the family some idea of value.

One item that caught my eye was a Canon Rangefinder body with a Leicavit styled trigger winder and an f .95 lens. It is a beast! I'd call it as excellent, but it does need some cleanup.

Any thoughts on what constitutes a reasonable price for this would be appreciated.

One interesting note: the back element is so huge that there apparently wasn't room for the standard Leica screw mount; instead the lens basically sits in the hole, attached by a breech mount that is part of the camera.

Bokeh on this would be interesting....

Thanks!

This is one of the few non-SLR lenses that I track in Lens$db (see XF sheet).

Current average eBay sales:

$2072 [E to E+]
$3025 [M- to LN]

It would be very sweet on my X-Pro 1 - I'll offer you $275...

That's the Canon f/.95 for sure. Shine a flashlight through the opposite end and look for "irregularities" in the lens, just so you have an idea about that part.

Then, there's the lens performance itself which is unknown unless it's been recently used/tested.

That is the lens. Interesting site.

Thanks so much for the generous offer. I'll give it the attention it deserves.

I can probably borrow it, so may breakdown and buy a roll of fillum......

by the way, how do you figure to mount it on your X-pro 1?

I was around when it was made; my memory is that it was regarded as a flashy dog..... Back in the day, I had Leicas so the .95 would have been unusable, although Marty Forscher could have rigged something, if you really had to have one.....

Do tell me more about the tracking site.....
