p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Corrupt card or worse?

Camera: 5Dc
Lens: Contax 50mm f/1.7 on unchipped adaptor
Card: SanDisk Ultra CF, 8gb, 30mb/s.

Card is formatted every time it's used, but I don't know how old it is. When reviewing photos on back of camera, a correct thumbnail shows up with an error message (image cannot be displayed?). When dragged into lightroom, correct image shows up for a split second, then reverts to this whited-out image. tiny thumbnail on desktop (mac osX) shows correct file, but the larger preview does not appear:

Dragging photos into GIMP gives this error message:

Finally, the photos affected. about 5 in the last 50 or so photos on the 8gb card. The most concerning is the one with the colors, which makes me fear that it may be a sensor issue?

Here's me hoping it's the card ($20) as opposed to the sensor ($hundreds)…

I will be shooting the camera extensively with another card, which will hopefully reveal whether this is am meory card issue or not. Until then, does anybody have any insight?

too weird.
I got this shot, just 1 out of >300, last night testing a flash.
this was on a sandisk 8gb.
card was imported with lr4.2 on win7/64 via usb card reader.
it's weird because this happened on my 5D, just like the one I sold the OP

I shot raw+jpg, the jpg is fine.

edit: card was not freshly formatted.

Card/and or data corruption.

I had this issue once with an 8GB card that I filled; normally I don't shoot to the card's limit.

5Dc and suspected eBay Chinese Sandisk copy.

I had to throw away a whole lot of (unimportant) images.

Either the card or reader are defective or there is corruption somewhere else along the data path. I'd say there is only a small chance that there is an issue in the camera, assuming there is nothing obvious like a bent CF socket pin.

Sensor is ok! Problem is with corrupt file!
If you see the corrupt file on screen of your camera without taking the card out of camera and on several cards - then camera cannot write correctly to the card! My advice is to take camera to Canon so that they could flash it with new firmware.
If that happens to only one card - the try changing the card!
