Just starting to discover the beauty of B&W's. C&C would be greatly appreciated. Also I just purchased "The Complete Guide to Black & White Digital Photography" by Michael Freeman. Any suggestion on books and editing software would be equally appreciated.

That is quite nice. Wonderful composition. I think you could play around with local areas of contrast, to make it look more uneven and add interest in some areas. That's a wonderful image with a lot of potential. Have fun exploring.

Agree, very nice composition. Would look good hanging on my wall.

I might have chosen to crop just to the right of the leftmost pine but that's a personal thing. It looks great as is.

Welcome, William. This image sure is very suitable for B&W.
I agree with the others to apply more contrast especially to the trees.

Thanks for the advice. I've replaced the original photo with one that has more contrast added to just the trees only.

Thanks for the great compliment. I truly was a little nervous about posting my first B&W here. Especially after viewing all the great work that gets posted here.

Excellent conversion with fine detail, tonal range and good job preventing blown out highlights in the sky.
