I agree with you there. A candidate for some masking in photoshop. Lightroom is good but bringing up
Shadows tends to have some negative effects of the brighter areas. The brushes are a tedious option. The real solution for those shadows without blowing up the lighter areas of the image would be luminosity masks. Unfortunately I am new to CS6. I might give it a go and post the results next week. My computer is apart at the moment.

I think 8 seconds would have been better just a bit too dark.
