I had a brief few moments after work today when I actually got to enjoy some sunlight!!!! So tired of drab, grey skies. Still trying to figure out how to get the "whites" right. C&C welcome.

You did darn fine on this one! The whites get easier with the sun lower in the sky

This is a solid gull shot, very nice to the eye and pleasing details on this one

White look pretty good, they are easily brought back by turning down your contrast and using a little highlight recovery. There is details in your whites.

Good sharp bird! BG is not ideal for me. Reality for a lot of rb gulls though.

You got the whites correct hear.

My recommendation for perfect whites every time:

- Set your camera so it displays flashing highlight warnings on the LCD when you review Images

- Set your camera for manual exposure choosing the aperture you want and guess the shutter speed by using sunny a 16 equivalent exposure

- Adjust your shutter in one step clicks till you stop the flashing highlight warning

- You now have perfect white
