Sounds like a great day, and obviously it was very rewarding looking at these wonderful images Doug.
1, 5, and 8 are the standouts for me, but all of these are very well done.
Excellent work!

Kirk

Thank-you Kirk, yes it was fun while we were out there and then it continues as I look through the images. Focus on that camera is amazing!

Are these taken out on the coast or some place else? Very nice.

Thanks Hawg. They were on the coast, the drift wood and water in the last is telling.

Thanks Tim. I think once Diane Feinstein finds out we can shoot owls at 12 frames a second with such precision and have variable size magazines for storing the shots we may all be in trouble. Were you really chimping during that flight sequence?

Thank goodness you missed that owl, that would have ruined the day.

Let's do it again soon!

-Doug

lol... how right you are. That woman is awful and short sighted. Next thing you know she will try to ban the Bow and Arrow and cars because they can hurt people also, but she will of course be able to keep her private limo while the rest of us are in horse and buggy. lol

Great job on the flight shots—knowing how tough they are to get!

Oh yeah, I missed all the close flyers Either they were too close, 800 isn't always an advantage, or I was monkeying with my lcd. That said out of all my shots, I didn't miss an exposure on any of them

You took great advantage of the opportunity when it came your way - these are great images!
What focal length lens were you using?

Bob

Thanks Bob, I am ecstatic with the results. All shots were with a 500 or a 500 + a 1.4x TC.

EXIF is intact if you have a viewer.

Thanks Henrik!! Options are good, I'm sure I would have enjoyed sunshine at either. AF on this new camera is very impressive.

Sweet photos Doug.

I will relocate from Chicago to get to see these beauties let alone photograph them

No need to relocate, just catch a flight out for a few days. Thank you for your kind words.

I like all the pictures but I think 4 & 5 are the best because the background fits in so well and creates a great composition. Also, it brings out the color of the owl really well. I admire your photography in general though!
