Shovelers, that is. These are from a few days before the recent snow and murk settled over Boulder, in better-than-average sunset light for around here. Mrs. Northern Shoveler; Mr. N. Shoveler was there but not being cooperative. The whole thing was made more interesting by a moderate-by-Boulder-standards gale that was blowing the ducks around, and me too.

Good work Mark. These ducks have a lot more cold tolerance than I do! If I were them, I'd continue a bit further south.

Thanks, David -- I tried not to laugh, so that with luck the ducks will not laugh at me when I end up doing the same thing! (At least not so loud that I can hear them.)

Ken, they are tough cookies -- the unfrozen water keeps getting smaller and smaller and they still stick with it.

Thanks for looking, Tim. I wish I had done something worthwhile with Mr., he was looking good but too long range. When the sun comes back, which usually does happen here, I'll visit them again.
