p.1 #1 · TC14EII or D7k for more reach with AF-S 300 f4?

Hello all.

Wich option would you prefer for more reach with the Nikon AF-S 300mm f4?
The D7k cost a little more but I get f4 and 450mm vs f5,6 and 420mm with the TC14EII.

Is it worth the extra cost of the D7k body?

D7K + 300/4 makes a nice combo. And you have plenty of space to crop in the 16MB files.

a great lightweight BIF combo a guy can handhold all day long.

I can't say how much you might prefer a D7k over the D700 but consider that the D7k is probably looking through the best part of the lens and does not have the extra TC optics in the way. You might also appreciate being able to use f/4 as a maximum aperture for both shooting and AF, whereas the TC drops the maximum aperture to a darker f/5.6.

So long as you don't need to sell your D700 to get the D7k you'll two good cameras to choose from each time you shoot.

yes get a use d7000 worth every penny and you also have a backup body as well

420/5.6 optical + 1.5x crop gives you some decent FL doesn't it?
