Hello Fellow Forum Dwellers!

Here are a couple images I managed to get today. Shot handheld with a 7D. 400 mm lens with 21 mm tube on the end.

Red-Breasted Nuthatch - slight crop to remove the tree truck what was on the left edge.
http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp263/kccollett/IMG_1907Red-breastedNuthatch2_zps0d198970.jpg

Downy Woodpecker - cropped to vertical.
http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp263/kccollett/IMG_1914DownyWoodpecker2_zps13a27e9c.jpg
Please feel free to comment on any picayune detail you would like bring to my attention.

Edit To Original Post:
I had originally asked, "If anyone can explain why the red went brownish, I'd appreciate it. Looks very red in Windows Live Photogallery. Photobucket took all the zing out of it." It turns out the color space selection in PS affects how Photobucket interprets the color. I saved new versions of the images using sRGB and the color now looks as expected. Images have been replaced with the sRGB versions.

Ken

The first is real nice Ken. You might want to do some noise reduction on the background

Which end Ken.

These both look good to me You have nice sharpness where it's needed in both ~ Ron

Nice shots, Ken. Although some say you should post in sRGB, I really don't notice any difference when I post in Adobe RGB.

You could improve things by using a Mac and uploading directly to FM.

NR is a process I'm still learning about. Some was done. Sounds like more is needed. Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

Well Ron, the tube do tend to work better between the camera and the lens, otherwise they would just be a clumsy lens hood. I realized my grammatical faux pas after posting, but was too lazy to fix. Thanks for stopping in for a look.

Thank you Tony! I've looked at the Macs but cannot handle the expense of buying a whole bunch more SW. The only Mac I'll be getting for the next while will be well mixed with cheese.

Both images were well captured Ken. Using the inverse method as Tim K mentioned, here is a redo with more NR.

I really like the Nuthatch Ken. It's interesting to see the result of Ted's additional NR. The smoother background causes the Nuthatch to "pop!"

Thank you for the new and improved nuthatch Ted. The bg does look better.
