Very interesting, as I enjoy shooting hoops as well. Is your's a refurb unit as well? How do you think the d800 with 70-200 2.8 would do in these scenarios without strobes? Is iso 6400 clean enough for casual use, not pro prints?

yes it is one of the refurbish, and It should be quite nice, cant comment on the ISO performance personally as my strobed exposure is 1/250 5.6 iso 250ish but aside from the frame rate being a bit low(on strobes it is dictated by recycle time which is about 2 seconds) it should do well. Its excellent with the 70-200 and quite good with the 70-300 vr (new favorite combo actually), have not used it on the 300 or 400 yet but have no reason to think it will be disappointing

Just got mine from cameta also. Had about 50 activations and no focus/oil/dust issues at all so far. 1 year warranty through cameta so I'm not worried. I love the camera and don't regret selling the D700 one bit. The resolution is massive!!!

Anyone get one of the d800 refurb's from Adorama....how's the left focus?
I bought one from Adorama 2 weeks ago. Shutter count 211, the body looks pristine, only a couple things changed in the Custom settings. The AF seems just fine. The outer points aren't quite as good as the center points, which is the same on my other FX bodies. The camera seems brand new and I'm very happy with the $700 savings.
Except for the slower FPS, this is a very nice upgrade to the d700, IMO.

I received a D800E from Adorama a week ago. No left focus issue but 2600 actuations and the lens mount was very tight so I sent it back. Adorama was extremely easy to work with on the exchange. They're sending me another unit with free 3 day shipping and they emailed me a pre-paid return label.
