I've been thinking about making an image of my favorite lenses for some time now (not that I have many lenses), and decided to go ahead and and do it already. Ended up being a nice exercise in composition & lighting.
Comments and critique really welcome, especially regarding the composition. Took me some time to come up with this composition, I like the way the 300mm dominates the frame (it is my pride & joy) and how my eye is taken to its front element, since it's brighter and the back of the lens (with the TC 14EII) is going out of focus. The two lens caps are there only to balance things up.
The front element is dragging me to the left edge of the frame, so I might like to see it oriented a little bit more centrally, but aside from that ... "Stick a fork in it" ... it's nicely done.

Yeah, I was wondering if that lens would be taking us out of the frame or not... perhaps some more room on the left, as suggested by Bob, would have helped? I might just try this in 16x9 and see how it goes. I did try some other compositions, but they didn't work so well, and when I finally figured this one out I was so tired of adjusting the position of everything, then changing lighting accordingly... I simply called it a day. To make things worse, I don't think I ever had a summer so hot around here, around 40C (104F) almost everyday
And by the way, thank you for the feedback Ben, Kent and Bob!

Looks fine to me, sharp, good dof, maybe just a wee-bit more room on left?
Never tried this - wouldn't know where to start.
Regards,
Bob
I recommend trying it - it's a nice exercise. Just be sure to have plenty of time, because it does take a lot of time... even though it seems simple at first.
Took your advice for some more room on the left, ended up changing the aspect ratio to 16x9:
