Thank you, Jerry,
after they broke into my car and have stolen my first 5D together with 24-105 (horror) in greece 6 weeks ago, I needed to purchase another one (6D) and decided after 2 years of "thinking" about the Tamron, it is now time to get it instead.
Yes, I do miss the additional 35mm from time to time after using the 24-105 the last 5-6 years. But thats it. The Tamron is faster imo in AF, of course in speed (one usable and usefull stop) and last not least its VC/IS is better, too. I would position IQ between Canons 24-70 L and 24-70 L II. So there is no big choice if IQ counts to someone. Tamrons 24-70 or Canons "II". I did not test the new Canon 24-70 4.0 because I do not like its IQ around 50mm. And I still do not like its price.
The 24-105 would have been stil cheaper about 200 € (purchased as kit with 6D of course) but I decided for the better IQ, the additional stop and last not least the Tamron 5 year warranty (my 100L needs to go to service now after 4 years because manual focus and AF stopped to work acceptable. I guess its just some cleaning but I do not want to know, how much Canon will charge me for it).
Yes, 6D and 24-70 2.8 VC are a nice working (and to me good feeling) couple, if one does not need in camera image correction.
Sammy: light is just sunset
BMW I8: this is not a "picture", Jerry. Its just a snapshot I did, because I love the cars shape. But yes, it shows that 6D and the tamron are working together well.
