I've owned the 5d, 5d2 and several crop Canon bodies, but so far the 6d is my favorite. I got mine "used" here (made FM buy/sell history with the first used 6d sale! ).

AF is quick and accurate. Feels much more responsive than the 5d or the 5d2 (likely due to shorter mirror blackout). Feels better in the hand than any other Canon I've used. Love the on/off switch near the mode dial. Mode dial locks! Auto-ISO lets you set a minimum shutter speed - finally!!
Shutter is quiet and much nicer sounding than 5d/5d2.

Got to use it over Christmas and loved it.....

Sam, thank you for posting your images...WOW...is an understatement, those are insanely clear at ISO 6400 and 12k. This makes me quite happy, heck extremely excited, my f4L glass should do well in day and evening sports stadium, indoor club/studio/theater event shooting.

That Zeiss glass looks mighty fine, the 6D seems to handle it well, are you using the standard focusing screen or perhaps the EG-S screen?

Spring can't get here soon enough...the 6D looks yummy
Jerry

Actually I have not changed it yet- not sure if I am going to do it either. I usually do since it does help with focusing.

Thanks for looking.

^ - Nice shots.

I must admit that when Canon first announced the 6D I was underwhelmed to say the least, but after learning more about it I ended up selling my 5d2 for the 6d and now I'm loving it! Best Canon body I've owned, thus far.

Got my battery grip ( from B&H ) yesterday....but the camera wouldn't turn on using the cartridge that holds LP-E6 batteries, but the cartridge that holds AA batteries worked...had to send the unit back and of course B&H is out of stock on the grips again. Darnit!

Ralph, seems early thoughts, your 1st hands-on impressions are being revealed/realized, the 6D is delivering excellent IQ, even tho it's a lower end consumer design...really can we call it lower end...it's FF
The images posted are all fantastic, many thanks to you early adopters, bravo and well done, keep shooting and posting

My f4L glass is going to rock-n-roll with the 6D

Plenty of dynamic range. This is a single exposure, shot RAW with very little PP in LR4. ISO 3200....

Some great shots out there

That's 6 shots stiched together.
100L at f/2.8. I love the DOF control you get with stiching + FF + f/2.8.

Personally, I don't see much dynamic range in that photo. Now if it was shot in daylight and the bright exposure through the windows held structure while not blowing out at the same time as the insides all exposed naturally, then I would be impressed. What you have posted actually exhibits very little dynamic range. Just saying...

My apologies, Maxime, but for your two previous shots, it looks like you are talking about different photos.

For the room shot, I also don't see any unusual dynamic range.

For the stitched tree shot, what effect were you trying to achieve? To show the background or to remove it? In the photo it's something in between

Chez, 'much' is pretty vague...it's kind of like saying the Melot needs to breath a bit longer before it's okay ...a few minutes more and it should be fine...really.

This is an evening shot...forumographer BS to forumographer BS comment...it's not a daytime shot.

The image has...
- bright nearly blown out high lights in the xmas trees lights; with a nice glow to all colors.
- there are light, medium, dark grays and even black in the fireplace.
- there are nice n soft high lights on various sofa surfaces
- the windows are picking up highlights as well as showing off an evening moment
- the bulk of the room quite nicely moves from light warm earth tones to quite dark; even including some small but deep shadow detail...

Just saying...

BTW Michael, nice well balanced exposure, really like the angle you shot at and all the beautiful earth tones of this living room...it's quite the warm, welcoming family Christmas time image.

6D images are really looking good, keep posting

Must be my eyesight, but I don't see any colored lights on the tree. Colored ornaments, yes.
