p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Change of Pace - Filters and HDR

Do you guys have any filters that you apply to give some of your shots a little different look. Since I am not really a artsy kinda guy and I am not really a photo journalist of any kind, sometimes my shots lack creativity. I pretty much just focus on action. I have been inspired by some things that Chris Pasatieri (CMPDesinz) has been doing and I am thinking of trying some HDR stuff. Never played with it before.

I have done some things in the past that our HS kids really like. I call them Sportoons and have a cartoonish filter on them.

Just experimenting right now but here are some samples. Have any of you done any HDR PP that you can share for ideas?

I will post the original shot, HDR and Sportoon versions. Any suggestions for different twists at this are appreciated.

I like the HDR, mainly because you didn't go overboard like most photoshoppers do. A little goes a long way. In fact, I'd probably tweak the "less aggressive" settings a little lower... it adds a subtle depth and detail to the picture.

The Toon effect doesn't do anything for me. It seems to make the photoshop effect button more important to making image than the shutter button.

all neat in their own way. I can certainly see how the high school kids would love the sportoons.

im not a fan of the cartoon. the hdr is nice and not overdone but i only see it be appropriate in a cut out not a full picture

I really like the Sportoon effect, and can see why they would be popular with younger kids. I think it is very well done. I underestand how Clarence feels about it making photoshop seem more important than the actual picture, but I think it would have to be a pretty good shot to work as well as it does here. Nice job.

I was hoping to see more examples of what you originally asked about, but it appears you have had little luck getting responses.

Here is a finished product Sportoon with the speech balloon added. I use Digital Anarchy ToonIt! for the filter.

HDR and Sportoon have there place certainly not for an entire selection or gallery of images but a select 1 or 2 makes sense or an option as a sales point.

I like both !
