I have only just recently spent some time on the BW forum and truly in awe of the magnificent work you and others do with this medium. Love the simplicity and detail of this photo. How do you like the 5DIII compared to other cameras you have had?

Joe, I am very flattered by your words. Thank you! To be compared to the others here is truly an honor!

Forgot about the question. The 5D3 is my first Canon (well, since the "digital" days) and having had several Nikons, up to the D700, the 5D3 is the best camera I have ever used. It's built like a tank, and weighs as much, has incredible ergonomics for a larger guy like me, super clean files up to ISO 6400, and the IQ is superb! I've been reading that the DR isn't up to the high levels of the D800, but I rarely find my self in situations where I need it. I've seen some truly excellent landscape images taken with it, and it's hard to tell in those. What I like the most is manageable file sizes That said, I'd still like to try out the D800!

Simple, epegant. Minimalist example of "less is more". Well done.

A wonderful image, Greg.
A crop at the top and it would be perfect.
Heehaw- ride 'em cowboy!
(For those who don't know, Greg and I agree to disagree about his cropping. I hound him, and it does no good at all ).

Well Chalie, I took out my ruler and measured it, and according to my calculations, everyone who views it will have a different idea on how it should be cropped lol

Truthfully, there's a hundred ways to do it, but the 1/3 rule (or golden ratio) tends to be what I aim for. What comes into play is whether to use the entire subject, or in this case, the main mass of the subject as a gudie. Then, vertical and horizontal comes into play. And in the end, I just go with what looks good to me
