This seems like a great deal. I am thinking of getting this and selling my t2i with this kit lens to help pay for it.

Is the t4i that much better than the t2i?

YES!!!

The still image auto focus is much better on the T4i than on the T3i. That alone is probably worth the upgrade.

The T4i got the 9 cross point auto focus from the 60D, with 1 precision cross point. The T3i had only 1 cross point. I don't recall what the T2i had.

The touch screen LCD is very nice, as is the articulating LCD. It is also the first Canon to have full time auto focus in video mode. While not great, it is good enough to let me replace my camcorder with the T4i.

As a pro/former pro, the T4i is the first of the Rebel cameras that I would seriously consider using for still images. In fact, the only reason I bought a 5DIII was for high ISO images at 6400 and above.

I really love my T4i! I sold the T3i in June to upgrade - I'd never go back to the T3i.

Thanks for the feedback. Checking on e-bay and craigslist, I can probably get $4-450 for the t2i with kit lens, so the t4i will only be about $250 net, plus the camera bag.

I have lots of extra batteries that will fit. AFAYK, will the grip for the t2i fit the t4i?

Thanks

wow. this is indeed tempting. and you can add the 55-250 for another $100!

currently shooting 5d classic and 1d2n. This T4i deal may be my return to the rebel series (not seen since the XT) to get more reach and movie mode on the cheap. Also gives the kids something that'll deliver better shots than the ol' XT.

Fred, thank you for the link.

I just ordered one. With the $150 Canon rebate, everyone else is selling this kit for $749, so essentially, B&H doubled the rebate and threw in a $50 camera bag and UV filter. Living on Long Island, even paying sales tax was worth it. Now, no more buying cameras for awhile for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered one. I didn't even want the lens but this is a minimal cost to upgrade my T3i, which I like to use when traveling light.

That's the problem for me! I am a **sucker** for a deal.

And it is sort of like quitting smoking: You can say "no" for 18,763 minutes. It only takes 1 minute of saying "yes" to undo that ...

(I had been trying not to buy a 5DIII for a couple of months until a recent Adorama deal.)

You will get the value of the lens back when you sell the kit.

you callin' me a sucker?

really want a 5DIII, but when already have 5Dc covering full-frame portraits and 1d2n for action, i can't justify the added expense of the 5DIII over the t4i for video and more pixels per duck.

I figured if I'm really not happy with the t4i I can sell it (along with my 5Dc) in a year to fund a lower priced 5DIII. Or maybe sell the 5Dc and 1d2n for the few hundreds they'll soon be worth to end up with a 5DIII/t4i kit.

I had the same thinking, I am/was quite happy with the T4i.

The relative cost to own the T4i is very, very low at these prices - only about $50-$100 or less per year!

By comparison, I think the depreciation on the 5DIII (depending on when you buy & how much you pay) is probably closer to $400 a year or more.

That is still a bargain of course compared to film. But these good quality entry level bodies are an absolute steal today!

Have fun! Let us know what you think. It seems like the T4i is one of the most underrated cameras out there, partly because it didn't get a new sensor for video like the 5DIII. People seemed to overlook the much improved still image auto focus.

Best,
Michael

Transcend card is on sale today for $12 for 16GB (not a good buy.) So yes, small item.

I bought some 64GB Sandisk Class 10 SD - the 30 Mbps cards - for $38 a couple of months ago. That is still about the best price I have seen on those. I use that as my benchmark to compare other card deals.

Equivalent:

32 GB - $19.00
16 GB - $ 9.50

But larger cards are also more expensive.

Class 10 is actually a slower spec than the 30 Mbps, so these are plenty fast for video. Having the 64GB cards is nice, as you never really have to worry about space.

There are some Sony Class 10 22 Mbps around for less than the above prices. YMMV - have not used them and can't recommend. I just stick with Sandisk always (or Lexar.)

The 45 Mbps and 90 Mbps sell for a bit more, and might clear the buffer faster. I have been happy with the 30 Mbps though.

Good luck!
Michael
