I used to have 50mm 1.8D, 50mm 1.4G and now 50mm 1.8G. The latter is the best, by far. No coma I can see. Better contrast and wide-open performance than 1.4G. Together with the Summiron-M, the best 50 I've had; and I have/had about two dozen.

I really like the Nikon 50mm 1.8G. I've used the 50mm 1.4G, 50MM 1.8D and found that the 1.8G is the perfect balance between price and performance. Some have even said that it's performance is on par with the 50 1.4g

I sold my 50mm f/1.4 with a camera body because of non use.
Later I decided to try the f/1.8 for indoor wedding reception work due to low light capability.
After one Event it went on the shelf.
I did not like zooming with my feet and found the 17-35 on one D3 and 28-70 on the other much better.

Now after using the V1 with 18.5 (50mm equivalent), I am interested in this focal length again.
But for Video, not stills.

Which 50mm f mount lens (any make) would be best for my indoor, low light "Home Movies"?
I shoot in Manual mode but do use AF as the lens is hard to reach from my shooting position.
