p.1 #1 · D800 WON'T Lock up Mirror for Cleaning

Need a little HELP with something I'm hoping isn't a glitch
Tried to blow off the sensor on my D800 for the first time and the Menu Item " Lock Mirror Up for Cleaning " is greyed-out
The battery is charged to 100%
Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem?

I don't suppose you've got a grip on?
Sometimes it doesn't quite 'read' your battery state, take it out and replace then check again?
Or take it out, place it in charger again, recharge then back into camera and check again?

are you trying to raise the mirror with a lens attached?

Of course not - how would I get to the sensor with a lens attached

That doesn't matter.

It's got to be a power issue. Is the battery saying 100% in camera, or does the light stop blinking in the external charger?

Anything else grayed out on the menu that shouldn't be?

Try putting back in the charger for a bit. Not sure how reliable the in camera meter is.

Make sure you have the network settings to off?

I know my D4 won't go into manual clean mode with that set on the menu is greyed out.

What does it say the charge level is under the "SETUP MENU" (Battery info)...

Just playing with mine and a couple batteries, it will still lock up when it says 95% (not that I would clean the sensor at that level).

Do you have your shutter button programmed to record movies in movie mode? If so, set it back to take pictures in custom settings and see if that works. Custom setting g4 should be set to 'Take Pictures'

No idea why it should matter but it does. Hopefully Nikon will fix it in the next update...
