A terrific set, Tim.
I agree that Yellowstone is a special place.
A small info nit: I'm pretty sure (but not 100% positive) that isn't mud on the bison. They have dust wallows that they roll around in. All the wallows I've seen were a white dust. Made from exactly what mineral, I'm not sure, but I've seen the big bruisers dust themselves all over, and when they're done, they look just like in your image. It's my favorite shot- in any case.
Charlie
It is a special place Charlie. Interesting idea about the dust/mud. We stopped to ask the rangers and they said it was mud. But as you can see in the one shot it's dust so I'm not sure what it is. We did see it on a lot of them but only the one was covered with it. Thanks for good words and additional info. You truly are a resource

What a fantastic looking park you have there Tim.
Its a bit bigger than my local
A real fine and enjoyable set where one can begin to appreciate the vastness of the park.
Very nice colors on the Redpoll, that one I have seen in Canada.
# 2 I have not yet seen, its a new one for me.
Nice to see you caught a rainbow. Did you make a wish?
# 4 is a classic Bison shot
Martin
Yeah Martin it's a nice spot down the way a bit
When I was shooting the Redpoll I didn't know what they were except that they were pretty little birds Yes I did make a wish on the rainbow but it kept raining anyway!!!

John
You are too kind John, thank you for the generous words.
Nice photo's Tim. I love the Redpoll, never seen one before. The bison bring back great memories of when we were there. Our two small dogs went crazy as they walked past our car!

Thank you John. Your dogs must have been exhausted after a day of barking at bison
