+1 Leighton

I had a chance to buy a 200/2 AIS while visiting a camera store in Missoula and wished that I had picked it up . . . . though my bank account is certainly happy I did not.

I have a elementary school play to shoot in January and a 200/2 VRII would be just the ticket as my 70-200/2.8AFS is just adequate for the job due to the low light and f/2 @200mm would be fantastic!

Is does indeed. And a fairly awesome case as well. Not quite as cool as the Canon hard case but its damn nice nonetheless.

Well, this one doesn't really have the title for it - I just want to be able to browse inspiration from all versions and all bodies attached to them

+1 I'm always glad to see great shots and a new thread with photos done with the 200/2 would be great.

Peeps, can any of you advise what aftermarket lens caps work well for the chub?

The Aquatech soft cap apparently rests against the front glass so that's a no no. The Don Zeck looks good but no chance of finding one in the UK.

Any other suggestions?

Have someone send you a Folgers Aroma Seal coffee can lid.

.....also comes in black...I went for the "bling"

Yup, I have both in the case, a black and a gold, that way I can bling or not bling

I carry mine in the Think Tank Glass Taxi, with hood in shooting position and body attached. Never use a lens cap, see no need for it.

I use the TT Glass Taxi as well but use a Lens Coat "Hoodie" which okay but little awkward to remove and replace. Have a Don Zeck lens cap but don't use it due to a little accident I had with it.

I'm surprised that the Aquatech lens cap rests against the glass. I'd never heard that before.

Totally agree with TM on this. The front glass on chubby is not actually a lens element but a protective meniscus glass that apparently isn't too costly to replace. Still, who wants to have to go down that path and get one replaced with the resultant downtime and aggravation?

Only $160 ($190 for VR II) for a weekend at Lensrentals. I'd do it just for the experience!
