Wanted to share a wedding from September.

I love it when the groom shows emotion.

I find more and more that there is a direct correlation to how fun the groom is to how fun the wedding is and this was a great wedding.

C+C welcome.

To me, you seem like someone who's still trying to find an identity. The keyword there is 'trying'... as in you're being active about the process. Which is awesome. I think you should think through the images that are most sucessful and figure out why that is versus those that aren't.

For me, the style of these images are great:

But it looks like a very different photographer took these:

Check out Sergio Mottola's work. I've always described his work as direct and honest. I think your successful images share that trait.

The hardest thing for a photographer to do isn't to find a great idea. It's to have a great idea and then have the humility to realize it didn't become a great shot. You have a few shots that I would categorize as really good ideas, but the subject never cooperated fully. That's ok, at least your trying. But if it doesn't work either A) Wait longer or B) Don't show it. Here's two that I'm referring to:

Please see my thoughts on the 'almost kiss' from another thread

And this is another direct and honest shot that I think is very strong:

I'd like to start with an image that got me really excited:

For me, this image is what photography is all about. It's an authentic capture that freezes a moment filled with emotion and context. Really well done there!

I also like this one for similar reasons, but not as much as the one above:

Those are hard acts to follow, so images like 2, 6, 8, 9, 11 come off as really boring to me. They just seem like shots you were expected to take during the day so you just took them and figured they'd like to see them on the blog.

I like what Tony had to say about 3 and 10. I sort of agree with him, but I like that you included them. They are stylistically different than most of the stuff you see in other photographer's portfolios. It shows you have a vision. And, truth be told, I kind of like the shots! But I think they need refinement as Tony mentioned.

I also like how you left the reception 'as is' in terms of color (17, 19, 23, 25, 27). It gives me a good sense as to what the day looked like.

Overall, I see an emerging style. Keep at it!

I shot a wedding there last season. Very cool reception venue.

I think you did a great job and agree with the previous comments. As I was looking through the set I was thinking almost the same thing as Tony. There are some really strong shots in here and some that could use a little work.

They will love them all.
