I didn't shoot much last month, most of what I did ended up filed in the trashbin. I kept this one and just got around to looking at it today, decided to try it in B&W. Comments always welcomed (flickr made it a little crunchy)

A very creative image.
I like how the crow is looking outwards, as if it is surveying the area.
I also appreciate how small the crow is, making the viewer think/look for it.
Great tones and excellent use of rule of 1/3rds.
The only thing I would do, is perhaps crop out the fence as it is cockeyed.

Thanks for commenting.

The row is actually a raven, which was quite large, the building is very large too. I was far away when he landed there and I didn't think he would stay long, so I took the photo and began to change lenses, but he didn't wait for me.

I initially cropped out the fence. It bugged me a little also, but I didn't like the narrow aspect and decided to leave it in. I think I'm ok with it going downhill... it still bugs me a little.

Cool shot. The isolation of the bird creates a somber mood. This photo would not have been this effective in color.

I don't mind the fence, but I do believe showing the whole structure would work better.
I'm sure you have a reason for this crop, however, and I, too, really like the Raven element.

Thanks guys.

That was only about half of the building, so it would have to have been a pano and the bird would have just disappeared. I actually wanted to be a lot tighter on the raven, but by the time I changed lenses he had left.

The color version is posted here if you're curious (along with a few others). I actually liked it just as much. Scroll down about half way.
