Lovers of details in shadows- turn away....quickly!
There was very little light bouncing into the canyon, and the Kodachrome slide film more than confirmed it.
But this image is about the sky and the stream- plus of course the unmistakable outline of the Watchman.

I think the darkness just makes more of the brightly lit areas Charlie, nice work!

Ah, it's the differences that often make life interesting.
As long as we respect the rights of others to be different (within reason), we're all better off because of it.
Of course, one of the main reasons I love negative dark space is because of a lifetime of shooting Kodachrome slides- which are intended for projection right out of the yellow box, and where the least bit of overexposure kills the image.
For those who have fully adapted to the infinite possibilities provided by the digital world of photography- it might seem like pure stubbornness. Although partly true- it's more a matter of how some slide shooters think regarding photographic images.
Overall, it's neither right nor wrong. Like many things- it just is.
If you like my negative dark spaces- bless you

Your exposure captures both the beauty and mystery of the scene. An HDR might show more but not necessarily make a more beautiful photograph. Well done.

Kee, if camping, there's a perfectly located campground just inside the west entrance to the park.
In the canyon itself is the National Park Lodge, which is also perfectly located and a historic site as well. It's my best suggestion for non-campers.
Otherwise, the town of Springdale is just outside the west entrance, and there are several motels. Pick one in your price-range and you'll be fine.
