I kinda grew to like these night shots. New York provides plenty of spots for these
These were my first tests with a 14-24mm lens, and i love it.
Please let me know what you think.

I like the formation look of the pilings here, and the colors of the capture.

I like the composition of your shot. I do, however, like the color tempature to be slightly cooler. The colors appear to be a bit warm on my monitor. But that's just me. Nice image regardless.

Thanks Nick.

i guess monitor would make a difference in some cases.
The colors are a bit warmer then on my previous shoots, but i try not to adjust them too much. If you look at the rocks on the bottom, i think they look natural.

Once again, thanks for your feedback. I'll post more pictures soon

Nice, Somewhat familiar with the area but can't tell this particular vantage point. Governors Island?

Got it, a bit south of the bridge. Great area to take pictures in. I recall when it was not safe to go in that area night or day. Not like that anymore. I love what they did with the parks under and around the bridge. How are you liking that d800E?

Yeap, you got it. Park is nice, but I haven't been there after Sandy yet.

D800E is tricky. VERY sensitive to motion blur (which is expected), but if you get it right the quality is stunning.
For running around the city or kids parties - I still think D700 is more convenient. That is unless you can get a D4

I heard that. A friend has one and he feels compelled to carry a tripod all the time now. I wanted this camera but I have too much invested in Canon lenses. It was a 5D3 for me. Either one is way is a way better camera then I am a photographer. BTW, looks good after Sandy. Lower Manhattan still has a bout 50 buildings out, many of which are in your photo. You might want to wait about a month before you head back to DUMBO. There is a new bridge that will connect the park to Brooklyn Heights. Supposedly by the end of the month http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/brooklyn-bridge-park-stairway-heaven-foot-bridge-bklyn-heights-article-1.1214313

Is there a reason for including so much sky? What does it add to the image? When I crop off a bunch of the sky with my hand this is sweet.

This seems to be an issue with a few of my images. The cropping.
I personally like the way the sky looks after a long exposure, so I include some of it besides, with 14-24mm you're bound to get plenty of skies in the shot

I really like it though the sky is a bit too much for me. But this is the first time I'm looking at NY from a different perspective. Usually its just the grandeur buildings and the lights. This looks freaky but really cool
