A couple more from my fleeting visit a few weeks back. First is of part of the stone circle, with some gorgeous light on the hills behind. Composition options were limited due to the number of visitors. The other was the view from just beyond the circle, a little later - more lovely light and only just enough time to peep my tripod over the wall...
Both with the 1DSiii and 70-200 2.8 IS ii. Thanks for looking and comments welcome as always! Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,

What a beautiful area. I like the first for the light and those interesting rock formations on the right side. The second for the light and your framing of the sheep with the fence. Nicely composed.

Hi, Lizzie. I have been to this locale. Both of these are wonderful. You really got some terrific lighting here.

Am scheduled to be in Birmingham the week of 10 Dec., and London the following week. Looking for some shooting locales for the weekend between. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

Cheers,
Ed

Many thanks for all the kind comments everyone!

John - yes those sheep were remarkably cooperative - though I confess to blending in one of them from a separate exposure as he'd moved in line with the fence post!

Ed - I'm off somewhere rather warmer, Namibia! I don't know the south so well so don't really have specific recommendations. The Cotswolds are lovely and sort of in between the two places. Or you could head further east to East Anglia possibly?

a nice pair you have lizzie!
though i do find in the first my eye is drawn to the lit hillside, rather than seeing the stones first due to its brightness.
therefore i am liking the second more, some real nice colour and pp/ exposure, just wishing tho for a touch more field at the bottom. The gate way framing just off center is great too.

Thank you, Simon and David!

Simon - the first looks more balanced when not compressed for web or even on black b/g helps... - but know what you mean.
Glad you like the pp on the 2nd - my first attempt tried to be a bit too clever and this was really just a wavy grad line with blended exposures and just lovely light, which always helps ;-) I was lucky there was that gap in the wall, otherwise too much of a barrier - I'd also have liked a bit more field but without getting on or over the wall, it wasn't possible - and some chap had his tripod on the stile so I had to make do peering over! ;-(
