43 Rumors just posted a leaked pic of the rumored 40-150mm f/2.8. It is WAY smaller than I expected it to be, and is even smaller than the 35-100/2.8. I can't imagine it's internally zooming, however, given the small size, so that's a minus. Will be interesting to see if the optics are as good as the 35-100, and to see if the price is competitive. If the optics are great and the price is good, it might be tempting to switch (though I am absolutely loving my 35-100/2.8).

EDIT: Now they're reporting it's likely fake...so take it for what it's worth...

Yes, that's much smaller than I expected it to be. Perhaps it is also smaller due to the lack of IS in the lens compared to the Panasonic 35-100. I'm a bit surprised that the admin at the 43rumors site thought it might be as big as the Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 for APS-C systems. That lens is almost as big as the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 for FF systems.

I thought it might be the same size as the original Sigma 50-150/2.8, which is much smaller than the new OS version, and similar in size to the also somewhat compact (but still large compared to the 35-100) Tokina 50-135/2.8.

It looks cooler and more rugged, the shiny metal finish seems kind of fragile and scratch prone on the new Panny F2.8 zooms.

The metal finish on the Panny zooms actually holds up very well. I've only had my 35-100 for about two weeks, but it still looks perfect (of course), but also the 12-35/2.8 that I got from LensRentals also was perfect, and I'm sure it had a lot more handling (possibly rough). If it were scratch prone, I'd already expect to see some scratches on the side nearest the grip, since the lens is a bit fatter than the typical m4/3 lens, and I scratch the barrel with my fingernail pretty much every time I pick up or set down the camera. Still looks perfect. The only downside is that it can sometimes show fingerprints. It's also an odd metal. In some light (mid-day and under fluorescent), it's a beautiful gunmetal gray. In warmer light (incandescent or evening/morning sun), it gains a purple hue.

So it seems that pic is a fake.

Yeah, what is up with that Panny is releasing grey cameras and purple lenses, Olympus is releasing black and silver cameras and champagne lenses. Are these companies colour-blind or what?

I didn't like the champagne color of my 12mm F2 either at first but somehow on the silver body, it looks more premium. I can't explain it.

The champagne lenses are ok on the silver body. However, Olympus needs to start producing black prime lenses that aren't more expensive black special editions of the silver lenses.

I hope they don't; I would regret too much to have no waited
