Nice Makten.
I also own the 35/1.4 (ZE) and my impression is that the lens on the RX1 generally renders more "depth", a different look. I like it.
Based on other examples I've seen so far the 35/1.4 ZE/ZF seems to have better detail/ micro-contrast when shooting stopped down at infinity.

Martin, would you say that the RX1 lens renders somewhere between the ZF.2 35/2 and 35/1.4?

I had a look at these again now, and bloody hell, they look good! This is some seriously nice IQ.

Martin, those are really nice!

I got mine a couple of days ago (in the other thread I said that I'd wait until I could find a used one, but once it got in stock I couldn't resist - I have been dreaming of something like this for years and already use 35mm 95% of the time ). I'll try and come up with something good enough to post soon.

It does indeed seem to be optimized for close and middle distances, but I find it good enough for other shooting too and its rendering is delicious.

I'll sell my ZE 35/1.4 and a couple of other lenses after the holidays.

Here's a pic from my new toy, which I received in Perth, Western Australia yesterday:

Photo taken with SONY DSC-RX1, f/2 @ 35 mm, 1/320, ISO 1000, No Flash ...

and another:

Photo taken with SONY DSC-RX1, f/4 @ 35 mm, 1/80, ISO 1000, No Flash ...

and one of my mate:

Photo taken with SONY DSC-RX1, f/2 @ 35 mm, 1/80, ISO 4000, No Flash ...

And, finally, one from this morning:

Photo taken with SONY DSC-RX1, f/6.3 @ 35 mm, 1/125, ISO 100, No Flash ...

They're even better full size! I think I may enjoy this little baby...

No, I think it has it's own rendition that is closer to the ZM 35/2.8 for example. The bokeh is just much smoother than the ZF:s and at a bit of distance it shares some properties with the ZM 50/1.5 as well. It's a bit early to tell yet, but I think there is something about it that reminds me of medium format, with a "deep" DOF and then an abrupt falloff to buttery bokeh.

Congrats to you all. Every store around here was sold out right away. This might be a good thing he he.
Good to see Adobe already added the RAW support for it now.

Great samples here. I find the Australian vikingshot fits very well in a thread with shots from Stockholm of Martin and Morten the Viking from Norway who just bought this small beauty. This RX1 seems to be an enrichment of the camera market. Who's next with compact full frame?

Yes, it has a slower focus transition and slightly smoother bokeh than CY 35/1.4. Better at handling higher contrast scenes too. Seems sharper wide open than all Zeiss 35's, 35/2,c/y 35/1.4 and new 35/1.4. Bokeh is not as smooth as new 35/1.4 ZF in difficult bokeh scenes.
I like it as it is very sharp at near and mid distance with nice bokeh and pop.
Couple that with leading edge Sony sensor which is like a slightly lower rez version of my D800E. It has incredible IQ in in low light .

It certainly has a lot more soul in it than the ZM25/2.8 that I shoot as a 35mm proxy on APS-C cameras and from what I've seen I like how it renders even more than the ZM35/2 which has been idle in my bag for months. Close in to medium distances I like the RX1 lens quite a bit.

Elsewhere on the 'net there's been a lot of fascination with close in shooting at f/2 but fewer landscape examples.

I'm aching to see some distant landscape shots - tree line at the horizon 10 - 20km out sort of stuff - I don't expect the RX1 lens to compete with the ZM25 or ZM35/2 when pixel peeping at distant details but for prints and display would expect and hope that the result is not disappointing in comparison.
