But while we are railing on about the finders, I agree the optical one is priced stupidly. I'd have considered buying it for $399, but not for $600. The Zeiss 35 optical finder is the crazy priced one, as the Zeiss Ikon finders you can buy in other focal lengths go for $399 retail, but Zeiss never made one for 35mm since they aren't needed for the Zeiss Ikon film rangefinder camera. I agree with sebboh - they probably don't see themselves selling many, perhaps may make just a single batch of them. Maybe they are priced as collectors items already to save others the trouble later down the road. 
At least the EVF, which I have ordered without question, is $450 US, not much more than the NEX-5N finder when it first came out. It and the A99's finder is apparently better than the experience on the NEX-7, which some feel was better than the NEX-5N finder. My guess is that it is the in-camera processor and sensor differences which make up for most of the improvments if not all.
