Just something a little light hearted for a Saturday night. I've been sitting here pondering over what I'd purchase if I ever managed to get my hands on a large chunk of cash so I thought I'd take it one step further and think about what I'd buy if money was no object.
For me I'd pick up either the 200mm f2 vr2 or the 300mm f2.8 vr2. Can't decide which one I'd choose but I'd love to one day add one of these to my kit list. With the 200 its because of its ridiculous sharpness wide open and its ability to produce the finest bokeh and background separation. With the 300 its because of its ridiculous sharpness and extra focal length over anything else I currently have.
So, to see what gets the rest of you drooling, tell us what's on your fantasy purchase list and why?
2 custom hybrids of the D3s and D4. They would have the video, 16mp & ergonomics of the D4, but somehow use the battery, LCD & dual CF slots of the D3s.
They'd come with round-trip tickets to Sendai so that I could pick them up directly off the assembly line know that they hadn't been returned.
That would be cool. BMW allow people to pick up their new car from their HQ. Get a tour of the site, get some smoke blown up your rear and then have your car unveiled before you drive off into the sunset.
Would be awesome be able to see your lens or cam being built, inspected and then delicately packaged before being handed over with a bow tied round the box.
My fantasy would be an original sliding box camera from the late 1840s with a Chevalier portrait lens attached! I already have an 1847 Voigtlander Petzval lens for it. Another fantasy buy would be a 1920s vintage Zeiss Juwell in 9x12cm with the Protar lens. That one is actually affordable for me.
Mint copies of every MF Nikkors ever made, and a climate controlled window case to put them in! And then a lazy boy recliner so I could sit in front of it and just admire them.
