Hi, I have a Tamron lens that when it is focused in LiveView mode (D7000) via either AF or MF, it shows a clear image in the back LCD. But the resulted image was always blurry when I pressed the shutter, even when I use a tripod and self-timer on the D7000. The camera works fine with all my other lenses. Anyone knows what may have got wrong in this lens? (The problem also exist when not in LiveView mode.) Thanks, Eric Nov 23, 2012 at 10:06 PM

Liveview shows what the sensor is actually seeing, so if the image is clear and well focussed in liveview, it should be clear when you take the photo The blurry photo may also be due to slow shutter speed, but if you're on a tripod that shouldn't be a problem either. I don't know what's happening but it sounds like a problem with the lens, can you get it checked under warranty? Nov 23, 2012 at 10:36 PM

As already mentioned, the common issues that cause this might be: 1) You have the stabilizer turned on -- it should be turned off on a tripod 2) You are not using mirror lockup, so the shutter slap is shaking the camera at the moment of exposure 3) Your images might be suffering from diffraction, which is when you use aperture numbers at or larger than f/16. It gets particularly bad when you reach the f/22 to f/32 range. If you post a 100% crop of a troublesome image and post the camera settings you've used, it will help us diagnose what's wrong. Eric Looks like you've answered your own question. Lenses require precision alignment, and dropping it on the floor is enough to tweak the alignment of an element or two. You'll best be served by sending it to Tamron and having them check it out. I'd just tell them that the lens doesn't seem very sharp. They might very well cover it under the 6 year warranty if they don't find obvious impact damage. Nov 25, 2012 at 01:33 AM

Common sense tells me that, if the image is perfectly sharp in live view but appears blurry after the shot, dropping the camera is not the source of the problem.
