WHAT? If you have some good samples, for goodness sake post them. It's my bandwidth, I'll use it if I want! Seriously, it's fun seeing your images... Please keep posting.

This is not the era of dial up any more, no one cares about bandwidth. Post away.

Really impressed by the sharpness of my Sigma 35mm.
See some quick photos in less than desirable light.

ISO 1600, F2.0 , 1/60s, Focus on the left eye

Crop on the focus point (the sharpness is reduced by the high ISO though)

Some other quick tests with 5D3 handheld.
Here again, not a lot of light and high ISO noise decrease the sharpness impression... Still, really impressive !

The last 2 pictures at full aperture.
It also gives an idea on the bokeh although it is not the best background to highlight this feature.

A swell lens! Now I'm waiting for a 24/1.4 from the same mold. In fact, I'd be more than happy if Sigma had updated their entire 20/24/28 lens: make 24 an f/1.4 and keep the rest as f/1.8 while upgrading their optical performance and focus systems - 20 would be the extreme wide lens, and the 28 the affordable one of the bunch.

Come on Sigma, Nikon has released a 28/1.8 lens to great success (seemingly) so the bar has been raised; after all, fast wides are all the rage now!

Well, I 'm back to report that just as of about 5 minutes ago I was very pleasantly surprised by the performance of this siggy 35 and AI servo. The light right now is terrible. It is near dusk and overcast. I used the 5D3 + siggy 35 @ 1.8 in Av mode, ISO 1600, AI Servo, single point AF, both single shot and slow burst continuous and was getting SS's between 1/500 and 1/1250 with many between 1/500 and 1/640th. I took 52 photos of the 7 year old in the photo above. I asked her to start running

Thanks for that report. I may buy one, try it out, and I can always return it if I don't like it, but it sounds very promising.

No prob. I just thought people might like appreciate the impression from an average guy shooting average stuff. My thoughts were the same in that if I didn't like it I would just return it in 30 days and consider the shipping rental fee! However, I'll be keeping it!!

BTW, I don't even know what "bandwidth" is, but those shots are really boring and were simply tests!!

Also, is there a way to quote more than one post in a single reply that I am not seeing such as a "mutiquote" button?

Diglloyd (Lloyd Chambers) posted his test and comparion between the new Sigma and the Canon 35/1,4 lens. http://www.diglloyd.com/prem/prot/DAP/Sigma35f1_4/Sigma35f1_4C-compare-Canon35f1_4L-dolls.html

It's for paying members so not everyone can look at it. To make his long test very short. The Sigma lens beats the Canon in everything He have tested it with many pics from f/1,4 to f/8. And corners and edges also.
It's sharper
More vibrant and more accurate colors
Superior and better micro contrast
The lens is better corrected
Nicer out of focus areas
Less chromatic aberrations
Less color fringing
Less field curvature

Hope to own this lens in 2013, the sooner the better! Need to sell off some other camera items to finance part of the purchase for the S35.

Off topic, but based on the friendly debate in this thread surrounding wide open sharpness at f/1.4 lets put into perspective what sharp wide open actually is

http://nikonrumors.com/2012/11/02/sample-images-from-the-new-zeiss-distagon-55mm-f1-4-zm-lens.aspx/

Apologies for the Nikon link, but scroll down to the 100% crop of the eye. The lens will also be made in Canon mount I believe.
