Well I just checked their site and it said they had it in stock. I added it to the cart and quickly called and checked on CLP, they do not combine the discount. So I was going to gladly take the sale price still and then it said they don't have stock to fill the order.
The site still says it's in stock though. The Canon rep did confirm that there are none in stock.

Well the refurbs just popped up available so I snagged one. $700 difference, I couldn't pass that up. The 6D may end up being worth it, but upgrading from a 40D I'm sure I'll be plenty happy.

I think you made a good move. In terms of image quality, nearly everyone claims that the 5D2 and 5D3 are the same. So, if you don't need high-speed AF or 6fps, you'll love your new camera. As for the 6D, I'm not so sure that it will best what the 5-series already does... I guess time will tell on that.
