Check the B&S forum here (there is a search function), or KEH.

Also FM member jcolwell maintains an extensive lens price database. Try searching the forum for the link. He updates it pretty regularly and uses a number of sales channels as data sources.

It's the Mark II version and i'm considering buying it if they are still able to be repaired. I also looked on the B&S board, but couldn't find a good price to buy it for. Thanks, wcj0

The Mark II version of the non-IS 400mm f/2.8 is a great lens, really heavy but it is really great. I wouldn't touch the original one at any price. I am not sure about the price, sorry. Check the completed listing on eBay as a possible source. Good luck!

Prices for some of the old super telescope can be all over the place. Looking around here (ok uk so the pool isn't as big) I see quite a variation in the prices of the 400/2.8's. I've seen mk1's go for more than mk2's and even fd versions go for just under the price of the EF ones. Most mk2's seem to be around £2-3k. But then to complicate things more I'm seeing first gen IS lenses only just reach over the £3-3.5k mark . It looks like the mk2 IS version has had the most effect on 400/2.8's (followed by the 600/4) . Likely due to the new 400 being so much lighter that it makes handholding more of a prospect.

Thanks, Ian. What does that compute to in dollars?

About 1.5 dollars to a pound . Just think of the pound as FULL FRAME and the DOLLAR as APS-C crop

But I would also think our prices are slightly higher than yours as as I said before there is a smaller pool of product available.

$3,800 is ballpark for one in nice condition.
