Last night (Thursday), I shot the first round of playoffs for one of the schools I shoot for. The lighting was better than anything I've had the opportunity to use. I was flipping between ISO 3200/6400 and was getting SS anywhere from 1/400 to 1/1000. The endzones were pretty dark. It was pretty cold for TX...upper 30s. By the middle of the 3rd quarter, my knees were pretty achy, so I stood more than kneeled from that point on.
This game was a SHOOTOUT. The team I was covering, Elysian Fields (the orange team) took home the victory 67-54. EF's QB (#12) was 11-for-15 passing for 265 yards and four touchdowns...and ran for 65 yards and three scores. He also recovered a fumble and had an interception on defense.
I know this is more pictures than the norm...I just had a hard time cutting it down more. #5 was a pretty brutal tackle...kind of like a horse collar tackle, but instead of grabbing the back of the pads, the defender grabbed the front of the guys throat...sort of like a clothesline choke slam from behind.
Jeff...you took a challenging situation and made it work. You got the action, the faces and ball....The shots are real sharp for the lighting issue you were faced with. WOW....121 total points...hopefully you camped out in designated spots because if not....you put on some mileage going up and down the sidelines.
#5 does look like a pretty hard stick. I'd like to see that one on video.
Frank, I did put some miles on my feet that night. The average drive was about 5 plays. 1 or 2 short plays, a long bomb, and another short run or two into the endzone.
I wish schools would put lights in the corners of the endzones
A really good set Jeff! You and I seem to shoot in very similar condition's! Ah HS Football.
I like the backgrounds and angles you chose as well. I think you also captured the after play shots really well with other players celebrating the scoring!
