p.1 #1 · First snow at Yosemite

Here are the last few shots from this recent Yosemite trip.
Being there for the 1st snows of the season is a magical experience.

This first one was basically the first shot taken.
We had got to the park at just before 5am having left San Jose about 1
Entering the park, we were driving in white out conditions, seeing maybe 50ft in front of the car
We parked at Valley View, set our iPhones to wake us before sunrise and took a short nap
This is what we got to wake up to. Both taken with the 24-105

Lastly, Sentinel Bridge. 1st the traditional view,
Waited for the sun to pop thru & light up the colors, but no joy
Taken with my favorite prime, Samyang 35/1.4

Nothing real special, but I liked the depth & calm
Taken withe the Samyang 24/1.4

Hey Dan,

#3 is my favorite for obvious reasons...

Nice work on all of these. I really like the way the light was working the clouds in #2, though the foreground is really cool in #1 also.

That's cool you got there for the first snowfall of the year. Any snowfall in Yosemite is cool, but there is something special about the first...

Hi, Dan. More lovely stuff. I really like the composition on #3. Just a few suggestions that I think would make it even better.

I would like to see more exposure in the lower half of the shot. This would be an easy fix in Camera Raw. Simply use the gradient tool, bump up the exposure to your taste, and drag from the bottom up to feather it in. Also, might want to get rid of that excess foliage in the upper right side.

I like #2 with all the spots of light. Did you arrive on Sat? I left Fremont on friday night and got into the park on Sat during the sunrise.
