p.2 #1 · p.2 #1 · Landscapes and waterfalls

Hey guys, I put together a little chart based on the lenses and the number of comments made about the lenses in the feedback above. Everytime a comment was made I gave it a star. I then looked in the B&S area and found some of the best prices of each. Looks like the best option is to try and save up for the Tokina 11-16 or the 12-24. The 11-16 is a f2.8, so that may be best.

I hope the formatting stays when I post and doesn't jumble everything up. Fingers Crossed.

Name Cost Stars
Rokinon 14mm $300 *
Tokina 12-24/f4 $325 **
Tokina 17/f3.5 $350 *
Tokina 11-16/f2.8 $500 *****
Sigma 8-16 $550 *
Tokina 16-28 $650 *
Nikon 10-24 $700 *
Nikon 16-35 $1050 *
Nikon 14-24 $1500 *

I agree with Roman in that the Tokina 12-24mm would be a great choice. Roman is an excellent photographer and probably has a lot of images on his website that were shot with this lens. It is extremely well built and plenty sharp. Since you are looking to keep the price low that would be a lot of lens for the money.

@Roman, I just visited your website, the photos you have on there are absolutely awesome. What an inspiration, however, here in Mississippi I will never have the views you have.

Roman,
You mentioned the Tokina 12-24 in your post, I saw one with this name on ebay "NIKON AF Mount TOKINA 12-24mm f/4 Aspherical. AT-X124 Pro DX" is this what you were referring too? I also saw one that said DX II, not sure what that meant? Thanks

I too like waterfalls, and tend to photo them with either the Tokina 11-16mm or the NIkon 28mm shift lens. Or, 4x5. I once thought the best place to find them was the island of Mauii. I was wrong. The best place in the world to see waterfalls (that I've found so far) is Iceland. There has to be multiple thousands of waterfalls there. So many they don't even name them! At one spot, I could stand and count over 18 of them. I'll likely never go back to Mauii.
