CL as in Craigslist? That's a great price, but proceed with caution. I don't know why someone would ask so little for those items when they could easily get another $400-500 out of them...
If the camera/flash comes with original box, manuals, chargers, it's not likely to be stolen. Ask for a receipt if you want to be sure. You can even call the local PD and run the serial number if you want. I've always had good luck on CL but that doesn't mean you can 100% protect yourself. Meet in person and if you get a bad feeling about it, then don't buy. The 24-70mm seemed reasonably priced, which is unlikely if he was a crook.
I've sold many a body D3s, D700x2, D7000, D5100, D5000, D40 ( none stolen )
Bought a few too D7000, D700, D5100, D5000, all came with box, I highly doubt stolen. IMO I find Cl far better than other venues as you can talk to the seller, try out the camera/lense extensively for things like left focu issue.
know many who would never go there to buy or sell,, I just sold my D300 and 17-55 to a nice young lady doing weddings and portrait,, also bought a car for one of the grand-kids,,
guess ya either love it or hate it which I can understand,,
when I started receiving offers for my camera gear above my asking price and to send to a bogus location I would reply with this message,
sorry but I sent the camera and lens to someone in Guatemala so they could inspect and if they like it they will send me payment,,
never heard from them again but imagine they are thinking "SEE there are fools out there"
I've bought and sold several lenses and cameras on CL with no trouble. I get the occasional gem where someone doesn't quite know what they're selling (like the Canon 10D that happened to have a 17-40 L on it.)
I tell the scammers they have to pay in gold bullion.
i've had great experience with cl, but some of the advice above is well taken....i bought my d4 from cl, sold my d3 and d3s, and have bought and sold several lenses there as well. you get a lot of scammer emails, but it is not too tough to figure out what is real...
'i am the botswanian treasury minister'....that is usually a scammer
